Konnos beach – experience of a lifetime

The most beautiful beaches of Cyprus
29. September 2024Sea Caves – a completely different view of Cyprus
During our stay in Ayia Napa, we couldn’t miss the unique Sea Caves at Cape Greco. They are a real natural treasure. They are much more beautiful than the ones at Paphos, especially because you can climb down and explore one of the caves without having to go in the water.
Road to the caves
After parking the car, we went for a short walk along a marked hiking trail. This led us straight to the reefs. Along the way, we enjoyed the magnificent views of the coastline, which gradually showed us its beauty.

When we approached the caves, the first sight completely overwhelmed us. Dramatic rock formations met the waves, and small coves of clear water beckoned exploration. However, count on strong winds in this area.

Exploring Sea Caves
Sea Caves along the reefs are the result of erosion and have unique shapes and sizes. Some are large enough to enter, others offer only a small opening through which to observe the underwater life. There are also small beaches next to the caves where you can sit back and enjoy the sunshine. However, that’s only if you head here by sea, which wasn’t our case.
From the top you will have a wonderful view. If you head left, you will find an opening in the rocks through which you can descend into one of the upper caves.

From here, the view is even more beautiful, and you won’t regret coming here. But beware of the terrain – it’s short but challenging and can be slippery. Definitely don’t go down with children, and adults need to be careful too, especially with the strong winds going against you.

Romance and adventure
As the afternoon approached, the sun began to tilt towards the horizon, emitting a warm golden light. We took a walk along the cliffs, where we found several perfect spots for photography. Each shot captured unique scenery that we wanted to keep forever.

How to get to the Sea Caves?
If you want to get to the Sea Caves near Ayia Napa, the easiest way is by car. From Ayia Napa itself, it’s just a short, approximately 10-minute drive east towards Cape Greco. You can also take a bus from Ayia Napa. Get on the 101 line and get off at the Sea Caves or Cape Greco stop. After this stop, you will have to walk a few minutes to the caves.
Nearby, you will also find the beautiful Konnos Beach, as well as the Sculpture Park and the Bridge of Love. Don’t miss these places.
