27. November 2023Playa Kalki – The hidden pearl in the north of Curaçao
Playa Kalki, fondly nicknamed “Alice in Wonderland”, is the perfect place if you’re looking to escape the crowds and experience the authentic beauty of the Caribbean. As soon as you arrive, you’ll be struck by the tranquil atmosphere and unspoilt beauty of the place. Welcome to the magical underwater world of the coral reefs, where colourful fish and fascinating seascapes await you. It’s a place that feels like a fairytale come to life, where anything is possible.

Small but cosy
Unlike the crowded tourist beaches, Playa Kalki retains its natural beauty and tranquillity. Here, you will find few visitors, fine white sand, and a crystal clear sea. The surrounding cliffs and lush vegetation create idyllic scenery that will instantly enchant you.

Since the beach is very narrow, only one row of sun loungers can fit on the beach, but they are spaced far enough apart from each other. In addition to the sun loungers, the beach offers a wooden pontoon right in the sea, where you can find chairs and free space. From the pontoon, you’ll have a spectacular view of the entire beach, and you won’t want to go back to shore.

Practical information and accessibility
Playa Kalki is located on the northwestern tip of Curaçao, near the village of Westpunt. Access to the beach is easy – just follow the signs and park in the small car parking area. From there, you can access the beach through the restaurant located above it, where you can enjoy a spectacular view. Definitely sit here for a while, have a coffee and enjoy the beauty that Playa Kalki has to offer. The beach is a short walk from the beautiful beaches of Grote Knip and Kleine Knip.

The wooden pontoon is located approximately 50 metres from the shore. However, the water around it is deeper, so you have to swim to it. Be sure to bring a waterproof bag with you to the beach so you can safely store your belongings.

Alice in Wonderland diving site
Diving site Alice in Wonderland is located right next to Playa Kalki and is one of the most popular on the island. Underwater, you’ll find columns of coral, diverse species of fish, sea sponges and even moray eels! With crystal clear water and gentle currents, this site is ideal for beginners and experienced divers alike.
There is also a diving centre right on the beach, where you can simply book an instructor and set off to discover the beauty of the underwater world.
