Lækjavík Viewpoint is an unassuming stop in South Iceland, but it offers something you won’t see anywhere else – a vast panorama of black beaches that stretch for miles. If you love views that draw you right into the arms of wild nature, this place will enchant you.
Whereas many tourists only head for the south coast, the southeastern coast is left out of the picture. Thanks to this, you will be completely alone here.

Situated around 40 km east of Höfn, Lækjavík Viewpoint lies conveniently near Iceland’s main Ring Road (Route 1) and is effortlessly accessible by car. From the main road, a small turnoff leads to the viewpoint and brings you to a modest parking lot, placing you directly at the viewing spot. Here, you’ll find an iconic rock formation jutting from the sea, endless waves meeting the horizon, and a serene atmosphere that envelops the entire scene.
