Corfu – family holiday
8. August 2020Mount Ainos
12. August 2020Foki Beach - mountain scenery
Foki Beach looks completely different from all the other beaches on the island. It seems more like a mountain lake surrounded by conifers than a Mediterranean destination. The water is a magnificent shade of green and blue-black, and it's so clear you can see every detail on the sandy and rocky seabed. The rocky bottom, the moored boats and the greenery everywhere as far as the eye can see create a unique atmosphere that is totally unlike anything you'll find in Greece.
Around the coast, there are various smaller sea caves to explore. Our expectations about the underwater life exceeded reality and we were quite disappointed. A few ordinary fish, but nothing interesting.
The beach is also different. It is dotted with coniferous trees, so it provides plenty of shade and you don't even need an umbrella. You can more or less enjoy the sun's rays only near the sea, so dense is the vegetation. It's not a beach where we could imagine spending more than half a day, but it was definitely worth a visit. It was as if we were transported from Greece to somewhere completely different.
The way to the beach is quite easy if you have a car, there is a parking lot next to the tavern belonging to the beach, where you can have a tasty lunch or cold drinks.
If you're already in the area, definitely don't miss Emplisi Beach, which is only 4 kilometres away.
