10. September 2022Arillas - the beauty of the north
The beautiful sandy beach of Arillas, in the north-west of the island, offers not only relaxation and shallow sea suitable for children but also stunning limestone cliffs on the right side. The beach is pure sand with a gradual entry into the sea, making it an ideal destination for families with children. And also no waves.
Beach and its parts
The wonderful Arillas offers a fantastic mix of both organized and unorganized sections. The central section is absolutely perfect for families and tourists looking for comfort. It's got everything you could possibly want, including sun beds, umbrellas and a bar. Venture a little further north towards the cliffs and you'll discover an uncrowded and serene stretch, perfect for relaxing in solitude. At the first cliffs, it is impossible to lie down as the water reaches the end of the beach, but if you go further, you will find a quiet place. However, this part is also popular with nudists and you might run into a few.
Mud body wrap
The beach has a clay-like consistency in some places, which is great news if you're looking to make a healthy mud body wrap. It's thought to have the same properties as other healing muds and it's great for cleansing the skin. You'll find most of it in the section where you have to climb over the smaller rocks to reach the unorganised part, just under the cliffs. And it's the perfect place to enjoy a spa-like experience with incredible, unspoilt views.
How to get here
The beach is accessible by car, but also by bus from the capital. The car park is directly behind the organized part and is free of charge. The beach is a short distance from Porto Timoni. You can go to see the iconic beach in the morning and enjoy the serenity of Arillas beach in the afternoon.
